Outside Inn was not bad at all. The service was great and the employees were very friendly! I went here for lunch with my fiance last week. I know the dinner prices are a little up there, and I do not like spending a lot of money if I can help it, especially when I have never even had the food. The lunch prices are actually comparable to chain restaurants, at around $8-$9 on average for a lunch meal. I had been craving french onion soup, and it did not disappoint! The broth was flavorful, and it had plenty of cheese. We both had the Sante Fe chicken sandwich, which comes with a breast of chicken, green chiles, avocado slices and pepper jack cheese. The bread was fantastic! The only gripe I have, which is a big one, is that the chicken had no flavor. The ingredients were all fresh, but I hate having to shower my food with salt that should have already been used. The atmosphere is that of an English tea room (picture floral print, doilies and groups of elderly people drinking coffee and tea), so I should not have been surprised at the lack of salt, but I was. I let the server know that the chicken was very bland, and she seemed offended, so I know they will not take my criticism into consideration. I did, however, feel better letting her know. This place could be a real gem if they just learned to use salt!

If you feel like sitting in a dining with 2 or 3 friends with the fireplace crackling in the corner, then this is the place for you. Small, unique, friendly and one of a kind place, the Outside Inn will leave you with a warm smile on your face, just as if you departed your friends house after a great evening and you know you do not have to do the dishes.

We were visiting Sierra Vista on Memorial Day weekend. There were 4 in our party and found this restaurant online. Do NOT let the outside fool you. The food is fabulous and the service just as good! Looking forward to visiting Sierra Vista and having dinner again.

They have a unique selection of meals to choose from. They serve chicken, seafood and steaks. The chicken was moist. Although I was not a fan of their peanut butter pasta. The French onion soup was extremely tasty though!

The service was amazing both times I went. I've been for lunch and dinner. The lunch I had a portobello steak sandwich--to die for. The dinner I had the pecan scallops which I HAVE to go again soon and have it. The risotto was melt in your mouth delicious and I would recommend the mahi which my mom had. The chipotle shrimp appetizer was so good. The waiter was very attentive and gave good recommendations and even had a heavy pour on my glass of wine--major bonus points!!! A little on more expensive side so I would go for special occasions but sooo worth every penny spent.

Perfect intimate casual dining in Sierra Vista!!! Highly recommend! Husband and I found this restaurant towards the end of our stay in Sierra Vista and wish we had found it sooner. At 7pm on a Saturday night before Mother's Day, I thought they'd be busy so I called to make sure I didn't have to make a reservation. The manager or owner answered and said they had plenty of room. He took my name and knew who I was when we walked in the door at 730. It felt so cozy and relaxing. Couldn't even decide what to have on the menu so many great options!! Great attentive service. Couldn't ask for a better end to our night. For those who have been to Fort Drum, This place reminds me of Petes Trattoria in Watertown. A really great local gem that you will keep coming back to.

As always, the food and the service was magnificent! Had my birthday celebration there last night with my wife. I had the poached salmon and it was out of this world! Liz had the mahi and she was delighted with it. We both had this magnificent soup that was their specialty of the day! Thank you David and your staff for the wonderful evening :-)

I ordered the catch of the day which was a pan-seared salmon served on a bed of lettuce and a bowl of clam chowder. The soup tasted extremely fresh with a very rich flavor! Serving size was a bit small buy worth every drop. The salmon was cooked to perfection and the seasoning was unlike I have ever tried. I cant remember what the spices were but it was very delicious. The plating was a bit "boring" and simple but the flavor and taste definitely made up for it. Total cost came out to around $15 excluding drink. Driving by this place you would never know its a hidden gourmet restaurant. The inside is very clean and spacious -- great for groups. People have raved about the lamb dish here and I will definitely make sure to come back to try that. Will update the review once I try it

I've been to Outside Inn for lunch and dinner several times. The service is always outstanding and the food is superb. This is one of the nicest, if not the nicest, restaurant in Sierra Vista. The wine and beer list is well organized. They have a nice selection of both, and also have a full bar. The menu is broken down by meat or vegetarian. I always have a seafood option because it tastes so fresh. I am a Florida girl living in the desert after all. They do salmon quite well. My mother has a gluten allergy, and they accommodated her well. I will definitely be back and highly recommend The Outside Inn.

On a birding vacation to Arizona. After a successful day in Sierra Vista we went to The outside Inn for dinner. We were greeted by Dave. He was charming and welcoming. The staff were attentive and polite. The selections available made it difficult to choose out meals. We settled on the steak and shrimp special and the avocado chicken both were very good. Though the desserts were tempting we were too full

Disappointing. Went there first time in 92, and as my wife smoked tehy sat us outside, and then forgot us. Said we will never go back. Choice of restaurants in Sierra Vista are limited, so this month we finally went back. The meal started out great, shrimp cocktail with huge shrimp. Then the salad came and was excellent. Then the main course. I had a steak (file mignon). First time I can ever remember having a steak with no taste. Ended up putting salt and pepper on it to try and give it some meaning. Finally gave up and brought it home, the dogs loved it. My wife had a shrimp dish, and not sure what they did to it, but she was not happy. Brought it home and had a shrimp cocktail a few days later. Guess it will take us another 23 years to go back again

White-linen supper club style eatery, with maybe 14 interior tables. I showed up on a Tuesday night, as soon as they opened for dinner, and was seated despite no reservation. Host was very friendly & funny. Only one other table was occupied prior to my leaving. I had a pork tenderloin special that was very nice. You sense this is probably where people go in town for anniversaries, prom dinners, or when guests come to town.

Second time there. Davis runs a great restaurant. All the staff are great and it MUST be the best restaurant in sleepy Sierra Vista!

Amazing service. Great wine selection. Exciting food. French onion soup was great. Shrimp cocktail was okay, sauce was too strong. Had a salmon special and it was delicious. I'm not a fan of risotto so I didn't like it much. Lamb chops were perfect! Great great atmosphere! Will try again!

Fantastic restaurant with a great staff, perfectly prepared food and a great spirit selection behind the bar. We had a spectacular lunch there. The Cobb salad, hot beef sandwich, and the lobster and shrimp over greens (special of the day) were all remarkable. We shared each others' lunch so we could enjoy all of the flavors. We started with the french union soup and clam chowder. Both were stand alone delicious. Worth the drive even from out of the area!

Will definitely not be going back. Spent well over $125 for 2, couldn't even get a smile out of the waitress. The food was meh. My husband ordered his lamb chops rare and they were medium well. My vegetarian dish was practically raw and not worth $20. The worst was asking for more bread and being told no!

This place was a nice surprise! The Gruyere puffs were the favorite of our ten person table. The shrimp cocktail had a delicious red sauce rich with horseradish. The lamb chops were rare and generously portioned. Great seafood bisque! We got too full on steak, Mediterranean shrimp, mahimahi with a creamy mushroom sauce to eat dessert but the carrot cake looked moist and rich. Their house salads were limp though. Great service...4 staff serving at once so we could all start eating while it was hot. This would be an expensive popular bistro in my town, San Francisco.

This warrants a five star review from me. This place is exactly what service and quality food is about. The food was absolutely the best in town. Its a small intimate place...This is not your chain restaurant. Don't expect to show up in flip flops and a t shirt. In our recent visits, the guest are all dressed in a business casual style. The feel of this place is extremely cozy and inviting. On to our meal. Well, not much more to say besides, awesome! We loved this place and will always enjoy it food.

I gave the Outide Inn the 5-star "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" becuase this literally is as good as it gets for the little town of Sierra Vista, which has more places to eat than one can ever shake the proverbial stick at. Tonight was our third visit and the best of all three by a big margin. Salads were basic, but fresh and chilled. The clam chowder fresh and clearly made in the kitchen and not shipped in. The entrees, NY Strip with Crab on top, Grilled Salmon and the Petite Fillet Mignonette were all delicious and again, fresh, which is something that most SV eateries simply cannot provide its diners on a regular basis. Yes, it is probably the most expensive restaurant in SV as well, but nowhere the cost of a run of the mill eatery in Los Angeles, where we live. As far as service, the staff is quite friendly and knowledgeable and it was very nice to see David, who owns the joint along with his wife, saying "Hi" to the regulars and new patrons alike. The owners obviously care about their food and their customers alike, which makes them heads and shoulders above the competition in this neck of the woods. We will be back.

I have had some great meals at the Outside Inn, the issue with this restaurant is their consistency in producing meals at the highest quality. I recently dined at the Outside Inn this last weekend only to be extremely disappointed in the meal and attitude of the management. Ordered the special, a seafood medley served with pesto sauce over linguini. A massive portion of pasta, not linguini mind you, was served absolutely drowning in a cream sauce with very little flavor of pesto and pine nuts. Monstrous portion that was overwhelming. As for the seafood, after much digging and probing, finally found, 1 shrimp, 2 scallops, and a piece of fish. I was tempted to call for a rescue diver to find the seafood; however, being in the desert southwest, nobody was on call. In terms of customer service and satisfaction, after I mentioned to our waitress that the meal was less then adequate, she offered to take some off the meal, but that never materialized when we received our tab. The manger was indifferent as we left the restaurant. In defense of the Outside Inn, their lamb chops are fantastic and the wait staff is pleasant. I'll give it another try sometime in the future, but recommend avoiding the seafood special.

If you are looking for a place to take a date in dusty little Sierra Vista, and you want the best possible combination of food, atmosphere, and service, the place you want to go is The Outside Inn. Don't blink as you cruise down the highway or you'll miss it, but don't miss out on the best overall "intimate" restaurant in the area. If you are planning to go on a Friday or Saturday though, I definitely recommend reservations. This is a very small restaurant and it fills up quickly on those popular dinner nights. The same could be said for holidays like Valentine's day Service: 5/5 We arrived about ten minutes ahead of our reservation, but it turns out they weren't necessary tonight. The restaurant was only about one-third full this evening. So we were seated immediately, water was provided at once, and was kept full throughout the evening. Our server relayed the special to us (a tempting lobster tail, but we passed) and took our order. Appetizers, salad, and entrees all arrived in a well paced manner. We never felt rushed, nor had a plate of food sitting there getting cold while we finished the previous "course." Excellent service all the way around. Food: 4/5 The food was mostly excellent, only a couple of minor things that could have been a bit better. We ordered stuffed mushrooms and salmon cakes for appetizers. The salmon cakes were outstanding. The mushrooms were a bit on the bland side. They could have used a bit more in the way of seasoning. We both ordered salads, honey mustard for me and the house vinaigrette for my wife. We both enjoyed our selections. The honey mustard was made with dijon, which added a kick I enjoyed very much, and the house vinaigrette came heavy with bleu cheese, which my wife enjoyed very much. For entrees my wife ordered veal and shrimp with pasta in a light cream sauce. She offered me a couple bites and I have to tell you, I was jealous. This was the star of the evening. The veal was the best I have ever tasted. And the cream sauce was creamy and cheesy without feeling heavy. Very often when you eat a pasta with cream sauce, you feel like there's a lead weight in your stomach when you are done. This did not feel that way at all. I ordered a steak au poivre. It was good, the steak was cooked to the desired temperature, and the peppercorns provided the kick I was looking for. But the red wine sauce lacked flavor. It really didn't add anything to the dish for me. For dessert we split a raspberry tart. It was very good. By the time we were done, we had wished we had each ordered our own. Overall Impressions: 5/5 The Outside Inn is a very intimate little restaurant. There are maybe fifteen tables max in the whole place. That said it is best suited for a quiet dinner for two. That is not to say it is "kid unfriendly," but it does not lend itself to large groups. As I said in my opening, this is the best place in town for a quite, intimate dinner. The atmosphere, the food, it all lends itself to a relaxing and enjoyable evening. So the next time you're looking for a place to take that someone special, head on down the highway to The Outside Inn. You'll both be glad you did.

Absolutely delicious. I had the pineapple shrimp and lobster with basil risotto. Prepared perfectly and unique favors. Also had the warm Brie and fruit appetizer. Already looking forward to our next visit.

Wonderful service and delicious food! The prices are a little high, but the atmosphere and quality of food are worth the price. I tried the lamb and it was amazing! The fillet mignon puffs were the best appetizers I have had in a long time! They are a must try! Great place!

The location is a little home that's been turned into a restaurant, we actually passed it a few times before seeing it. It's quite, cozy & casual. I would compare it to having a nice dinner at home in front of the fireplace (if people have those in AZ). The food was EXCELLENT. I would even dare to call it elegant. If I was in Sierra Vista & wanted to dress up for dinner, this is probably the only restaurant I'd go to within the city limits were the food would be deserving of my little black dress :) Of course I'd feel just as comfortable wearing my jeans & going there just to have desert, but you get the point! Like many independently owned restaurants, they don't open every day or normal business hours. You need to call ahead & it's better if you make reservations. It is on the pricey side, but a nice splurge.

We drove by this place a couple of times and the parking lot was always full so one night we stopped for dinner. Quite cozy place with a fireplace in the corner. The staff couldn't be better. The food start to finish was outstanding. I think we were the only people in the restaurant who were not regulars greeted by name when they entered. We look forward to stopping here next November when we return to the area.

This place is great! It is very small and intimate. So it feels kind of like you are in someone's home. The staff was so friendly and informative. And the food was wonderful. My husband had a fillet, and he said it was one of the best he has eaten. I had veal in a gorgonzola pesto cream sauce. It was amazing. If we are ever in Sierra Vista again, we will eat there.

The last time we ate here several years ago, it wasn't a good experience - we didn't like the food and service really sucked. But since then, I've heard some good things about the place. So hubby and I decided to celebrate our anniversary here the other night. We had reservations and arrived a little early but we were seated right away. First off, the building is a converted house so the the dining room consists of just 7 tables. They probably could fit a few more in but then, it would be impossible to have a private conversation with your dinner partner. I appreciate that the restaurant gives their guests personal space. There's a back room (what would be the bedrooms in a house) that's reserved for private parties and there's also a patio area near the front. Both our wines arrived a little warm. My pinot grigio would have been better if it had been chilled slightly and myhusband's merlot needed to breathe a little more. My house salad with the bleu cheese vinaigrette was more than enough for one serving. I liked it except for the shredded radishes. Since they were shredded, it was difficult to separate them from the salad. I didn't finish an otherwise good salad. My husband's caesar salad was also more than enough for one person. Our entrees arrived within 20 minutes of ordering then. My pecan spiced scallops were cooked perfectly and simply delicious. The risotto was also cooked perfectly but the broccoli was a little underdone and flavorless. My husband ordered the surf and turf. It's a huge meal and after the big salad he had, he couldn't finish it all. The lobster was sweet and cooked exactly right while the steak filet was cooked medium rare the way he likes it. This was a truly delicious and enjoyable meal. We ordered the chocolate mousse to share. It was a little disappointing. It didn't have a strong chocolate flavor that I like in a mousse. The whipped cream tasted artificial and had a slightly grainy texture. I didn't finish it. Service was pleasant and efficient. Our waitress was helpful with questions and seemed knowledgeable about the menu and wines. When she gave us our check, she also asked us to fill out a small journal about our dining experience. In looking through it, I read some of the mostly positive experiences of other diners. It's the first time we've ever been asked to do that in a restaurant before. Our total dinner bill came to a little over $80. We didn't order an appetizer, we shared dessert and we only had one glass of wine each. I think the prices are appropriate for the service and food that we got. We enjoyed the relaxed and comfortable atmosphere of the restaurant and had a really nice anniversary dinner. We will definitely come back.

Can't believe I have passed by here everyday for 8 years heading home and never stopped. It is awesome. Went today with ladies from work, we had fish, soup, salads, sandwiches and desserts. Yes the prices might be a little higher than the places in town BUT hey it is prepared daily and with fresh ingredients so it should be a expected. We were all happy with our food, no complaints. Both lunch waitresses were stopping by to check on us so no one waited or wanted for anything. Highly recommend. We did make reservations luckily because they were busy so recommend doing that before going.

Warm atmosphere; good food; excellent service! My shrimp was satisfactory, my friend's dinner was very good. Perhaps the shrimp was a tad over-cooked, otherwise very tasty. I would have given another star if it was properly cooked. And, I would definitely go back, but would order something else.

The place is reminiscent of a German gastehaus-cozy! I had their special tonight...just when I thought I'd settled on the chicken pesto, their special was tenderloin medallions with red pepper sauce on orecchiette with gorgonzola. What a great dish! One medallion was cooked perfectly while the other was slightly overdone, but still delicious. Service was wonderful and I enjoyed a delicious walnut torte for dessert. A little more of a wine selection by the glass would be nice, but dinner was really great! Make a reservation, even on a Monday night the restaurant was busy. Had to move to hear conversation over a boisterous, senior, birthday celebration. You can go casual and have a bit of a swanky dinner.

A small (and average looking) house turned into a very crowded restaurant. The food is ok but not what you would expect from the gourmet prices being charged. They actually charge more for most meals than Cafe Roka in Bisbee which I find to be frankly shocking considering how much better Roka's food, service, and decor are. The restaurant had far too many tables jammed into it for our visit and the owner seemed to feel a need to wander from table to table bellowing conversation at the top of his lungs. He hardly had a choice but to bellow since they had customers packed in like cattle and you could scarecly hear yourself think. Not a terrible place but far overpriced and overcrowded.

I really enjoyed this place. The food was very good. Although my entree a Fettucine Carbonara with brie was not as exciting as I'd hoped, my house salad was excellent and everyone else really enjoyed their meal. I was impressed with the menu and would love to try some more of their unique dishes (especially the pecan crusted scallops). While the food was good, what really made this place for me was the staff. I showed up on New Years Eve with no reservations in the hopes of at least getting a nice meal while working out of town for the holiday. The owner introduced himself and was very welcoming. He even arranged for a table for my coworker and me, even though they were going on reservations for the evening. Everyone was nice and welcoming, and they knew most of the patrons by name. The atmosphere was nice and cozy, but like others have mentioned, it's small. It's definitely worth making a reservation -- just in case you aren't as lucky as I was! It's a little pricy (about $20 for an entree, $30 for a steak) but it was a nice treat.

Unfortunately this place turned out to be a bummer. My wife and I went there for an anniversary Dinner back in December and were disappointed with the meal and cost. This was our first time to this place and I can say it will be our last. The food we ordered turned out very, very bland and overly priced. The only thing that had any flavor and actually tasted good was the greenbeans, and that's only because they added salt to season them. I had veal and shrimp and both lacked any flavor. My wife had a chicken pasta and her dish also was void of any flavor. We ended up paying more than we wanted, but I chuck it up to a lesson learned. The atmosphere was pretty nice considering. It's a tiny little place that has about 10-15 tables.

My wife received a gift certificate for The Outside Inn a while back and we finally had the opportunity to make use of it. We had attended a company holiday gathering here a few years back but were too distracted by activity and talk to really take notice of the place. After our most recent dinner there I will tell you that we will most definitely be back. The Wife had the coq au vin roulade and I played safe with surf and turf. Both dishes were perfectly prepared and were jaw-droppingly delicious. My lobster, while not the fresh Maine type, was one of the largest and sweetest crustaceans Ive ever had. My filet mignon was like velvet, without being over seasoned with bacon. The coq au vin was equally delectable, succulent chicken breast basically slow-cooked in red wine. Droool.......... The wine list is nothing to snort at either, we found a white zinfandel on the list that was too meaty to be a "pink wine" and went well with both dishes. A good compromise. The service was excellent, maybe because we arrived just as they opened for dinner. But excellent nonetheless. I will agree that the standard pricing is a little on the steep side for everyday diners though. But then again, this is not an everyday restaurant, and, i think, deserves to be cut a little slack on that account. We. will. be. back.

Amazing! Chef Michael does an amazing job with this menu! A few highlights are the French Onion Soup, Clam Chowder, Green Chili Mashed Potatoes, Veal Svallopini, Chocolate Mouse , and Creme Brûlée! Great date night atmosphere!
